Oliver Richter - General Manager
General Manager at Lion Sands, Oliver is in charge of the operations throughout the reserve. Having started as a trainee ranger living in a tent, he has literally climbed the proverbial ladder through all the departments. Having joined us in 2001, Oliver credits his achievements down to an exceptional team of individuals around him.
Janine Hobbs - River Lodge Manager
Manager of River Lodge, the soul of Lion Sands, Janine started working here in 2002 as a Sous Chef. After becoming Executive Chef, she went on to become Food & Beverage Manager, mainly so she could sample South Africa’s famous wines! Now Janine lends her artistic flair and creativity to River Lodge and the results are plain for all to see.
Oscar Mpengula - Ivory Lodge Manager
Manager of Ivory Lodge, Oscar was born in Germany and spent much of his childhood travelling around Europe, before he began to host travellers himself! He has been in the hospitality industry for the last 13 years, having started in Guest Relations and worked his way up into Management. Having enjoyed the various cultures and cuisine across Europe and Africa, he is ideally placed to welcome our guests.
Gabriella Ronchini - HR Manager
Administration and Human Resource Manager, Gabriella has been with Lion Sands since it opened its doors to the public in 2001. A certified field guide, and former manager at both River and Ivory Lodge, Gabriella is master of many trades and is now in charge of the administrative and human resources aspects of Lion Sands.
Malcolm Bucanan - Head Chef
Head Chef at Lion Sands, Malcolm has been running kitchens and tantalising guests' tastebuds for over nine years. As expected, he is exceptionally passionate about food and creating new and exciting dishes. Many a guest has overindulged in his cuisine so beware! Bon Appetit we say.
